Front squat with straps is a free-weight version used explicitly by trainees who lack the flexibility to train the basic front squat with a clean grip. By using two straps, you can make the traditional front squat more comfortable so that you can focus on the technique. Since it requires you to pull the straps, you can easily keep your elbows up which would help you in maintaining the rack position.

How to do Front Squat with Straps

Tie two lifting straps around the bar by weaving through the loop and position the straps at about shoulder-width distance. Grab the straps by wrapping them around your middle and index fingers and then lifting the bar from the rack using a neutral grip so that the palms face each other.
